Summertime had come and gone within the blink of an eye. Evanna 'Eva' Garnet wasn't sure how it had happened. Maybe between work at the Sale Yard and finding new friendships in Nash Breckah and Tanner Scott had done the trick, but all of the sudden, it was September and Eva had no where to be. The teenager had finally finished off Secondary and had graduated accordingly, and while Nash had made the last few months of it bearable - the whispers behind her back of why a girl of her age was still in Secondary had really started to get to her. None of it had been ideal for Eva, and she had needed a break - so much, that she put off going to Uni until the next semester.
The look of disappointment on Jessie and Brandon's faces had been...well, less than ideal. She could understand where they were coming from as adults, but she was an adult now too, couldn't she make her own decisions? As the thought crossed her mind though, Eva felt immediately guilty. A huffy sigh escaped the teenager now, as if to expel her own thoughts. Nobody was at fault - not her, not Jessie, and not Brandon. Besides, at least she wasn't bumming it around all day - she had the Sale Yard to keep her busy - those homeless horses didn't clean and feed themselves after all. But she was off schedule today, and with Tanner busy, and Nash in school, Eva had been left to her own devices.
So she hit High Street downtown with her new longboard tucked under her arms as she walked down the long stretch of shops. Eva knew pretty well that she could not skate in this area, it would get her in trouble in a matter of seconds thanks to the older folks, but cutting through High Street would eventually get her to the skate park. Plus, staring at beautiful things in the shop windows was always fun. The teenager paused outside one of the fashion shops, staring at the grunge fashion display they had. Hazel eyes looked over everything until she caught something, no someone, in the window's reflection walking by and Eva found herself quick to doubletake.
"What the-" she muttered, sharply turning to see a girl just saunter on by. While she barely caught her RBF, those curves, that fashion sense, and the pink streaks in the stupidly perfected beach wave curl, said it all. Eva knew exactly who it was. A surge of wild emotions hit her all at once, her fists clenched, as she called out, "Ripple?" Maybe she was wrong, maybe the girl who turned around wouldn't be who she thought it was and it was merely a haunting from the past, but Eva was certain, and boy, she wasn't about to burry any hatchets unless it was into Ripley Mistenya's back.

Ripley's white trainers strode along the pavement of the high street in the town she'd called home for most of her life. The town she had a love hate relationship with. Hickstead was full of memories, mostly painful ones. If her grandmother didn't live in a care home she'd have ditched the place for Bulgaria a long time ago but no, she was stuck here. She stuffed her hands into her hoodie pockets as she glanced into the shop windows, waiting for something to catch her eye so she could spend the money that was burning a hole in her pocket. The money her baba had sent over for her birthday yesterday. It had been nice facetiming the old woman, a brief chance for her now icy demeanour to melt a little. She may have gotten colder over the past couple of years but her nan would always put a smile on her face and make her feel like a kid again.
The brunette glanced up at the sky as the sun decided to make an appearance, making her regret her choice of clothing. September was always a weird month in England, it was either always raining or summer was trying to make a latch ditch attempt at staying a little longer. The soft breeze hit the skin of her thigh; in the rip of her jeans, bringing a slight relief but she knew she'd probably ending up ditching the hoodie at some point if the weather persisted. A noise from her phone made her pull it from her back pocket, lowering her gaze to read the notification that had came through just as she passed by another window shopper.
"Ripple?" She froze at the sound of the name - one she had heard only yesterday, but not by this voice. The grip on her phone loosened as reality hit her like a train. She hadn't heard that voice in over two years. Her heart almost cracked at the sound of it. She tightened her grip on the phone as she turned around to face the all too familiar blonde, her face a mix of emotions as her brown eyes scanned the girl, taking her in. She looked the same but different. "Eva" She said in disbelief. "when did you get out?"
Eva had been hoping that she had been wrong some how, even though she knew she wasn't. But it was only a matter of seconds before she was proven right. Hazel eyes watched as the girl before her stopped dead in her tracks, a sort of rigidness taking ahold of her body, before she slowly turned around to face her. The teenager could feel her breath hitch and stop as her eyes met Ripley's own hazel eyes. Eva had always been jealous of the other girl's eyes, mainly because they seemed to skew green whereas her own went towards brown. Her lips twisted a little bit, now that she had gotten past the shock of seeing a figurative ghost. Apparently though, Eva Garnet hadn't been the only one in shock: "Eva? When did you get out?"
A laugh escaped her - hard, cold, the kind of laugh that Eva hadn't expected she still had in herself still, "What? Didn't think you'd see me again?" she asked now, releasing her clenched fists so that she could now fold her arms over her chest, hips cocking to the side, a challenging pose. It was hard to deal with the jumble of emotions inside of her heart, they conflicted with her brain given it was full of anger. Still though, Ripley deserved an answer and not just heated talk, "I got out in January, not that you care. It's not like you visited me while I was away," Eva felt her brow furrow, "You know...I thought we were friends."

It felt like a lifetime until the blonde snapped herself out of the shock and let out a cold laugh, snapping Ripley out of her own daze. She wanted to close the gap between them and pull the girl into a tight hug but the look on Eva's face was like a bucket of cold water to the face. Eva had every right to be mad at her but Ripley had tried to make amends and each time she had been denied. "What? Didn't think you'd see me again?" She saw the blonde unclench her fists but didn't feel completely confident she wouldn't be getting a punch or slap to the face at some point in this encounter - but she wouldn't hold back on retaliating. "Honestly? No. But not because I didn't think you'd be getting out and coming back here." She knew how long Eva had been sentenced for but she hadn't known how long she would actually serve. She hadn't expected to bump into her because she was genuinely surprised she hadn't been arrested herself at this point. Gang life wasn't exactly safe but it kept a roof over her head.
"I got out in January, not that you care. It's not like you visited me while I was away," The words were like a stab to the heart. She hadn't known she'd been released early. She clenched her own fist at the accusation. "I do care." She shook her head. "You damn well know I tried to visit you, every request was denied!" She may not have had the balls to go to Eva's trial but she tried for months to visit, eventually giving up when her home life went to shit and she couldn't face being rejected again. "You know...I thought we were friends." She felt her walls crumble as she took another hit to the heart. "You were my best friend Eva, you know that." Her voice cracked a little as feelings she'd buried began to stir and she hated herself for it. She was supposed to be tough bitch but the blonde was her undoing yet again. If Daz saw her now, she'd well and truly be kicked out of the gang.
